after the jump: a conversation about stuff with Grace Bonney

In case you missed it, I had the opportunity to sit down with Grace from Design*Sponge and talk about our relationship with stuff on her radio show, After the Jump.

One of the biggest challenges for me in this whole process of exploring our relationship with stuff is that it’s a little fuzzy to nail down. I firmly believe that we build strong, important relationships with the things in our lives and that the stuff we surround ourselves with does impact our quality of life. But at the same time, the words don’t always come. I’m so passionate about defending stuff that sometimes it’s hard to get the words right.

So I truly appreciate Grace giving me the opportunity to flesh out the ideas on her show. The best way to sort through our relationships with stuff is to talk about them, and I’m grateful for what turned out to be an incredible conversation.

You can download the episode on iTunes or listen online at Heritage Radio Network.

I was so encouraged by your conversation with Grace. I have struggled with the pressure to get rid of everything. I have always said that “I love things.”

Your manifesto and I am sure your book will encourage and validate many other lovers of stuff.
